The first Melbourne debate will be held on Tuesday 24 May at Melbourne Town Hall at 6pm. The topic is whether it is good thing that the sectarian and commercial schooling industry continues be given bucketloads of public dosh to further undermine public education for its own narrow purposes.
Arguing for the ghettoisation of our children will be Amanda Vanstone (Howard government minister, friend of ‘friends’ and former ambassador to Italy), Michelle Green (a lobbyist) and a student debator from an excluding school. Together with Chris Bonnor (author, a former high school principal, former President of the NSW Secondary Principals Council) and a student debator from a government school, I will be putting the case against the ongoing funding of educational segregation.
